Mage Class Progression - Part 1 - Classes, Specs and Pets

rite folks!
We've just uploaded part 1 of a 2-part Mage Class Progression guide video series to YouTube and are currently in the process of fleshing out a proper written guide for this site. You can check out the video guides here:

In the meantime we'll post the summary screenshots for each tier that we mention in the video. If you haven't watched the video yet, these screenshots give a general class progression guide for you to follow the true and pure mage path in Orna. It also shows what supplementary classes you'll want to pick up for their useful skills.

In the second image we can see what specialisation options I recommend, unfortunately a bit boring with Beserker spec again recommended as our first pick up but it's just too strong! For pets in general you can follow the top line of pets and then situationally can consider the pets along the bottom also.

Thank you for this. With just the first part for mages your over-view has enabled me to double my damage swapping back to a beserker specialization. Level 158 before your tips now 160 in under two days thanks to that switch suggestion. I cannot wait to see part two to help my progression.

Hey Tom thanks for commenting! That's awesome to hear I'm glad it worked out, zerker spec is great for raiding through the midgame for sure. The guide needs a bit of fleshing out that'll come ?

Absolutely. I'm now at just under 190 and going strong. Thoroughly enjoying it still although I am confident my spell layout still isn't optimal.

One area of the game that still isn't very clear for me is the penetration levels for spells. Although there is info scattered across reddit/discord/YouTube as well as the hidden information sheet it's still not really obvious exactly which spells pack a full punch.

I appreciate the information but calling this a "written guide" is very misleading. At best it is a foreward or promo post for the video. If it were a complete written guide then all of the video's information would be in the post, wouldn't it? ;)

I am simply frustrated because it is much harder to reference a video if I want to find a particular tip or piece of information which I am not sure I remember correctly. A full written guide with timecode links to the video (and putting pop-up links in the video to relevant parts of the written guide) would be wonderful but literally no one does that.

Wait, why would you choose berserker instead of stargazer? It has a mag boost plus good spells for dealing with gauntlets and harder mobs

Berserker literally gives you a 1.5x multiplier on any damage and stacks with mag+ and mag++.
