Battlemage Duelist, The T6 PvP Monster - Orna patch 3.3

Build Intro

The Battlemage is the most popular Tier 6 class for mages in Orna. Introducing elemental multi-hit spells and higher mage stats after Druid in Tier 5, the Battlemage can be played successfully with a few different specialisations. This guide looks at the duel-wielding Duelist spec, specialising in fast hard hitting nukes perfect for PvP on both offense and defense. It also excels in solo dungeons but lacks the additional damage available to Berserker spec for longer term raiding.

Gear
​The most important consideration for this build is finding two weapons that are similar to each other in power. The Duelist spec works by giving a +15% boost to Attack and Magic stats when duel wielding. Remember that duel wielding first also reduces each weapon's stats to 65% of full power, so ideally you want to find two weapons close to each other in Magic power.  The Battlemage has Archistaff weapon proficiency so if one of your good weapons is an Archistaff be sure to equip that in your main hand (left side on equipment screen) to get the +5% weapon proficiency bonus.

Unless you're flying through the levels playing non-stop, tier 6 is a point in the levelling where we start to spend a little more time, meaning we want to level our gear to at least level 5 or 6 in the Blacksmith. If you check in on time you can do this in 24 hours. Levelling even further increases your power even more, especially your weapons.

All decent gear to consider for this build listed below is easily attainable outside events. If you are fortunate enough to obtain a high quality event piece of gear that will more than likely be an upgrade to the build and what you can find normally. Skills
For one-shotting people in PvP we want to use the lvl 75 Sorceror unstable magic spells (Cataclysm, Inferno etc).  As a backup use Bolt 3 in case opponent is resisting your elemental damage, or try a different unstable skill like Flare II (from Dragoon). If playing regularly, Sorrow and Sorrow II are fantastic spells to use but you do need to kill plenty of animals within last two days to keep them fully charged!
War Defense
I recommend limiting your skill loadout to offensive magic skills only, giving your defending AI the best chance to pile constant high magic damage pressure on your enemy! In this order:
Cataclysm, Inferno, (Sorrow I and Sorrow II if you keep them charged), Fulmination, Glacier, Bolt 3

A cheap skill like Magic Strikes always useful for dungeons and other content.
For raiding your multi-element faction skill can be used.
The buffs from Druid are also mandatory, Golem's Fortitude and Mimic's Mischief for dungeons, raiding,  and any rare tough PvP fights.
